Due to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-issued Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR), flights of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), including drones and model aircraft, are prohibited within the Princeton region from 9:30 PM Thursday, May 4 to 10:00 PM Sunday, May 7.

The restricted zone extends 30 miles from Bedminster, N.J. The restricted area encompasses Princeton and West Windsor townships and the entire campus of Princeton University.

No sUAS flights can be conducted during the dates specified above. Flight restrictions also apply to private and commercial aerial operations with the exception of commercial passenger and all-cargo carriers on pre-approved flight routes.

In addition to UAS, this TFR covers model rocketry, parachute and balloon operations, sightseeing, survey and agricultural flights, hang gliding, banner towing and flight training.

UAS operators are responsible for checking TFRs immediately prior to any flight. A complete listing of active flight restrictions is maintained on the FAA website. For more information about this upcoming restriction, see the detailed notice and TFR Alert from the FAA.
